We couldn't do what we do without the participation of volunteers, artists, musicians and those who see value in connecting the arts to the learning process.

As part of an initiative to reach an audience of under-served students in the greater Fairfield County area, GAS is partnering with Mary Newcomb, the founder of a new, innovative arts enrichment program called Mingled Arts. Mary and her staff of teaching artists and musicians ran a very successful program last year and served 120 second graders from Read Elementary in Bridgeport, CT.

A stellar trio of musicians from the Greater Bridgeport Symphony joined Mingled Arts at Read Elementary School in Bridgeport to play music by Strauss and Beethoven. The entire second grade class got up-close exposure to professional musicians and the beautiful, timeless music they played. We witnessed a lot of intense listening and loud applause! Our bassoon player even demonstrated and taught the kids about his unique-looking instrument!
